Md. Fazlur Rahman, FCAMr. Md. Fazlur Rahman, FCA has been elected as Chairman of the Board of Directors of AB Bank PLC. with effective from June 18, 2026.
Before assuming present position, Mr. Rahman served as Vice Chairman of the Bank. He joined AB Bank as a Vice President in 1997. From 2012 to 2014, he served as the President and Managing Director of the Bank. Under his visionary leadership, the Bank achieved several significant financial milestones.
Mr. Rahman is a Chartered Accountant with extensive expertise in banking operations, financial analysis, and strategic planning. He has demonstrated strong leadership in navigating organizations through evolving market challenges and short-term fluctuations while ensuring sustainable long-term growth and value creation.
Mr. Rahman has authored a number of analytical articles on banking and financial sector issues, which have been published in several leading national daily newspapers in Bangladesh.
Feroz AhmedMr. Ahmed is also the Chairman of Elite Paint Group and the Managing Director of Elite International Ltd., Hexagon Chemical Complex Ltd. and Ahmed Securities Services Ltd. among others. Apart from business activities, Mr. Feroz is also involved with various Socio-Cultural, Philanthropic and Sports organizations. He was associated with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) as its AD-HOC Executive Committee Member. He is also a Member, Board of Trustees, Chittagong Independent University, life member of Chittagong Zila Krira Sangstha and member of Chattagram Mohanagari Krira Sangstha. He also a life member of Red Crescent Society, Chittagong, Maa O Shishu Haspatal, Chittagong.
Ehsan K. ShoaibMr. Ehsan K. Shoaib joined the Board of Directors of AB Bank on 9 July 2026. He is a seasoned banker with more than four decades of experience in banking, strategic management, retail banking, credit, business development, core banking transformation, and organizational leadership.
Mr. Shoaib started his banking career with AB Bank in 1982 as a member of its first batch of Probationary Officers. During his nearly 30-year career with the Bank, he held several senior leadership positions, including Head of Business Strategy Unit, Head of Retail Banking Division, Head of Core Business Team (CBT), and Head of Business Development & Marketing. He played a leading role in formulating the Bank's business strategy, expanding its branch network, developing innovative banking products, strengthening retail and corporate banking operations, and implementing centralized online core banking and other technology-driven banking solutions.
Following his retirement from AB Bank, Mr. Shoaib served as Managing Director (Sales & Marketing) of Hyundai Motors Bangladesh Ltd. He has also been associated with ProAms as a business consultant since 2018, providing advisory services on business strategy and organizational development.
Mr. Shoaib holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Finance from the University of Dhaka. He has also completed professional training in international banking operations at Lloyds Bank Plc., UK, along with several executive development programs conducted by the Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM).
Shafiqul AlamMr. Shafiqul Alam joined AB Bank as Independent Director with effect from September 7, 2020. Mr. Alam, a seasoned banker having 40 years of banking experience served in different Senior Management Positions in local and multinational banks. He obtained his M.Sc degree from the University of Dhaka.
Mr. Alam started his career with ANZ Grindlays Bank (Bangladesh) in 1980, and served Prime Bank, First Security Islami Bank, United Commercial Bank and during 2013-2019 he was Managing Director & CEO of Jamuna Bank.
Md. Eskandar MiahMr. Md. Eskandar Miah joined AB Bank as Independent Director with effect from October 23, 2022. Mr. Miah is a veteran banker having 33 years banking experience and he served in different positions in various departments at Bangladesh Bank. He Joined Bangladesh Bank as Assistant Director in 1988.
Before retirement, he worked as Executive Director and Deputy Head: Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit, Bangladesh Bank, Head Office from February 2019 to 30 June, 2021.
He has vast experience in Banking Regulation and policy, Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit, Human Resources Management, Foreign Exchange Policy, Agricultural Credit and policy, Foreign Exchange Inspection, Professional Presentations, Expenditure Management and Payment Systems etc. He visited many countries and attended lots of training at home and abroad.
Dr. Nasima A. RahmanDr. Nasima A. Rahman joined as an Independent Director of AB Bank PLC. on May 27, 2025. She is a distinguished legal professional and advocate at the High Court Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, with over 25 years of extensive experience.
Dr. Rahman is an adroit specialist in diverse areas of law and has a strong reputation in legal governance, advocacy, and mentoring. She has profoundly contributed to research and international legal training, including UNHCR-sponsored programs.
She is an active member of the Bangladesh Bar Council and is widely recognized for her leadership in legal education, stakeholder engagement, and the promotion of public legal awareness.
Dr. Rahman holds a Ph.D. in Social Science, along with advanced degrees in law and human rights from the University of Dhaka and Dhaka International University.
Areef Billah Adil ChowdhuryAB Bank PLC announced the appointment of Mr. Areef Billah Adil Chowdhury as its new Managing Director on August 19, 2026. Mr. Chowdhury brings nearly three decades of international banking experience across Bangladesh, Hong Kong and Singapore, having held senior leadership roles at National Bank PLC, Bank Asia PLC, Scotiabank, American Express Bank and Crédit Agricole Indosuez. Throughout his career, he has built a reputation as a steady hand in challenging environments — known for restoring confidence, strengthening organizations and delivering results with discipline and integrity.
At National Bank PLC, where he most recently served as Managing Director, Mr. Chowdhury led the institution through a period of significant difficulty, focusing on rebuilding trust with depositors, resolving non-performing assets, and reinforcing governance and regulatory compliance. Under his leadership, the bank also modernized its core technology — upgrading its Temenos Core Banking System and achieving ISO 27001:2022 certification for information security — while carrying out operational reforms designed for long-term resilience.
Earlier, as President and Managing Director of Bank Asia PLC, he led a comprehensive strengthening of the institution’s foundations, including capital enhancement, centralization of key operations, and the establishment of dedicated risk and asset-management functions.
